Why 58&fam?

We have both experienced how essential it is to have the right support and community to dare to pursue your dreams. Before becoming a professional cyclist Nathalie came from a background in dance, where she early on encountered challenges around body ideals and performance. While Maja has sought balance throughout life between her creativity and health through cycling.

The core of our project is to inspire others to dream big and believe in their own potential, drawing from our personal experiences and participation in some of the world’s biggest off-road races.

We believe in the power of community, and our goal is to create an inclusive space where everyone feels supported and encouraged to chase their dreams.

The Migration Race
Gravel

Migration Gravel Race (MGR) is widely considered one of the toughest and most extreme gravel races in the world. It takes place in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya and is a four-day stage race covering roughly 650 km in total across rugged gravel roads, dirt tracks, cattle paths, and wildlife areas. The race is split into four stages, typically ranging from around 140–180 km per day, with significant elevation gain and highly variable terrain. Riders race through remote savannah landscapes where they share the route with wildlife, local communities, and safari traffic, making both navigation and endurance a major part of the challenge. MGR is known not only for its physical difficulty, but also for its heat, altitude, and the mental resilience required to complete a multi-day ultra-endurance race in the African wilderness.

Gravel Burn
Gravel

Gravel Burn (Nedbank Gravel Burn) is one of the most ambitious and extreme gravel stage races in the world, held in South Africa. It is a 7-day solo stage race covering roughly 750–850 km through some of the country’s most remote and dramatic landscapes. The race starts in Knysna (Western Cape) and finishes in the Eastern Cape, often at or near a private game reserve. Riders traverse a huge variety of terrain, including coastal forests, rough gravel roads, mountain passes, and the vast Great Karoo semi-desert. Each day is a timed stage, and the overall classification is based on cumulative time across all seven stages. Riders stay in fully supported “Burn Camps” each night, creating a mix between ultra-endurance racing and a remote stage-race expedition.
